A Bracknell dog walker has designed and created a brand new board game centred around the care and well-being of dogs and their owners.
Catherine Adams, the owner of dog-walking company 4 Paws and Pals, has gained a large amount of knowledge and understanding about dogs over the past four years.
She said: Owners vary from 'it looks cute, so I got a dog' to 'we've had dogs all our lives'.
"As a person who cares deeply about the wellbeing of dogs I tried to think of a way to best inform people, including children the basics of good dog care, training, social etiquette and amongst other things socially acceptable behaviour in public.
“So I devised a board game for 2+ players aged seven and above. It's called Walkies the Board Game."
The principle of the game centres around the player walking their dog through a forest, advancing through various questions relating to breeds, training, health and wellbeing and general knowledge. A correct answer allows you to continue through the forest, collecting Paw Tokens and Treats.
Obstacles along the way include Tree Cards which can be beneficial, detrimental or indifferent, and Zoomies or Super-Zoomies. You can also get lost and be at the Ranger's Hut awaiting your owner.
Catherine added: "The information in the game is based on UK laws and best practices. This is not to be used to replace training carried out by a professional Dog Trainer."
