Prince William, Princess Kate and their two oldest children Prince George, 9, and Princess Charlotte, 7, were reportedly treated to an exclusive late-night tour of a top TV studios in Ascot.
The royal clan recently visited The Rings of Power studios in Buttersteep Rise, Ascot, according to national reports.
Actor Martin Freeman, who played Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit films, previously revealed that Prince William was a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings fantasy series and JRR Tolkien.
The most expensive show in history, costing more than 1 billion pounds to make, offered the family a chance to view the props and sets up close.
The Sun reported that Prince Louis stayed at home as it was too late in the evening, but the family was accompanied by security in a very low-key visit.
The cast and crew were filming the second series of The Rings of Power at the time of their visit.
The first season of the show is the most expensive TV programme in history, costing Amazon more than £1 billion to make.
