WINDS up to 60mph could cause widespread disruption today across Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, the Met Office has warned.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for the south east and the rest of the country today.

It will come into force at 10am and last until 6pm today.

The Met Office said strong and gusty south-westerly winds may lead to some disruption for prone high-sided vehicles.

A spokesperson said: “Southwesterly winds will widely gust to between 50 and 55 mph with gusts reaching 60 to 65 mph over some exposed coasts and hills.

“The highest gusts are expected between mid-morning and mid-afternoon.”

In terms of what to expect, the Met Office said:

Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely 

Some short term loss of power and other services is possible 

Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely and damage to trees is also likely

Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer

It comes just days after a weather warning was issued for snow and ice for the county.
