A Bracknell pub has won the 2023 Branch Pub of the Year award by The Berkshire South-East branch of CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale).
The Newtown Pippin pub will be presented the award at a social on Thursday, March 23 at 7.30pm.
CAMRA is a group for beer drinkers who are passionate about local pubs selling real ale, rather than mass produced fizzy beer.
Each year the Berkshire South-East branch select the Pub of the Year winner.
The branch covers Wokingham, Bracknell, Ascot and surrounding areas as well as stretching from Winnersh in the West to Sunningdale in the East, and from Winkfield in the North to Sandhurst in the South.
Contenders for the award are based on 'Beer Scoring' from all CAMRA members during the preceding 12 months.
Beer Scoring rates pubs from zero (No Real Ale) to five (Perfect).
The judging of short-listed pubs is based on the following criteria:
- Quality of Beer/Cider/Perry
- Style, Décor, Furnishings & Cleanliness
- Service, Welcome & Offering
- Community Focus & Atmosphere
- Alignment with CAMRA Principle
- Overall Impression
