Temporary tent at Blues Smokehouse (23/00239/LB)
The owners of the Blues Smokehouse restaurant on High Street in Bracknell want permission to erect a large temporary tent in the pub garden at the rear.
The tent is to cover eight tables that are already in the garden, and the managers hope it will allow outside dining during bad weather. They also say it will “allow guests to be shielded from the unsightly developments” to one side of the garden.
Changes to conversion of The Winkfield Pub to flats (23/00156/FUL)
Architect firm JBP consultants has applied to change the conditions of a previous application to turn the former Winkhouse Pub on Lovel Road into flats.
Specifically, they want permission to allow gates at the vehicle entrance to the development. The original conversion in 2019 was given approval with the condition that no gates would be allowed in the interests of road safety.
The new application wants to remove that condition as the entrance was installed with gates set back more than six metres from the kerb. The architects also want to remove a separate condition to allow for landscaping to take place.
Changes to Nuffield Health gym opening times in town centre (Wokingham app 230913)
Nuffield gym wants to be allowed to open from 6am Monday to Friday instead of 6:30am.
The building was converted from shops into a gym, with the council granting permission in April 2020. But this was on the condition that the gym would open from 6am – 10:30pm Monday to Friday, and 8am – 8pm on weekends.
The application has come with several statements of support from gym users.
Conversion of town centre offices into flats (Wokingham app 230947)
Michael Fahami wants to change the use of a grade two listed office building at 5a Market Place into two flats.
The council had already approved its conversion to three flats in February this year. The new application is to reduce that to two.
The original building dates from the early 1600s, and was given grade two listing in 1951. The application says no demolition or external work will take place, and there will be only “minor” internal changes “carried out sensitively.”
