(Wokingham) 24 new flats on Peach Street approved: 214184

Plans for 24 new flats on Peach Street in Wokingham town centre have been approved two and a half years after they were submitted to the council.

The plans include ten single bedroom flats, ten two-bedroom flats and four three-bedroom flats. The flats will also have balconies and share a roof terrace.

There was some opposition to the plans after they were first submitted, with councillors complaining that developers had said it was “unviable” to provide the required amount of affordable housing, and also about an apparent lack of allocated parking.

The council’s planning committee also discussed the proposal at a meeting in April 2022. The approved the application subject to further information on parking provided.

A separate application for the renovation of Holly Cottage is at 231167.

(Wokingham) emergency new classroom for private school: 230992

Luckley School in Wokingham has applied for permission to put a temporary classroom in its car park after taking on more pupils than it expected.

In its application for permission, Cameron Jones planning firm said the school expected pupil numbers to rise to 370 by 2025—but already have 368 registered for September 2023, “hence the need for temporary classroom space as they make plans for the longer term.”
