A CONTRACTOR has sent its best wishes to a woman who hospitalised after falling down a trench while the company was installing electrical supplies.
The incident happened on Thursday, Mary 25 at midday when a woman on her mobility scooter fell into a ditch made by The Electricity Network Company Limited, on behalf of Power On, in Reading Road near the Wokingham Station car park.
Police, fire services and an ambulance were called to the scene where Power On were installing low-voltage electrical supplies.

A spokesperson from the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they extricated a woman from the ditch and placed her in the care of South Central Ambulance Service where she was taken to hospital.
Power On has since released a statement about the incident extending their ‘best wishes’ to the lady involved, stating the incident was ‘extremely rare’.
Neil Fitzsimons, managing director of Power On, said: “We would like to extend our best wishes for a speedy recovery to the lady involved. Incidents like this are extremely rare and we take them very seriously.
“Health & Safety is our utmost priority at all times. We are working with all relevant parties to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, and we will report fully in due course.”
The contractors continued to say that the roadworks are linked to the installation of low-voltage electrical supplies for an adjacent housing development. The excavation had been prepared to facilitate the electrical connection and was ‘protected by barricades’.
Power On stated that no work was being undertaken at the time of the incident, and no one was onsite.
It continued to say that a barrier system was in place, but this ‘was breached’. A spokesperson added that a ‘thorough investigation’ is already underway into how and when this ‘breach’ could have occurred.
They said: “The investigation is being undertaken by Power On, who will work with all stakeholders, including the local authority and the police, to establish the facts surrounding the incident.”
