The closure of a popular soft play area has been met with backlash among the community as people say that it is the ‘end of an era’.

Whoosh play centre has been located in Bracknell Leisure Centre for the last 20 years and become a vital part of the community for parents and children.

The business announced on their social media page that they would be closing on July 8 due to the refurbishment of the leisure centre in partnership with the council.

Debbie Ferrari said that she was disappointed to hear the news as she remembers her children having lots of fun over the years.

“I have started taking my granddaughter there recently with her friends and they still love it as much,” she explained.

“Last week we were there, the really lovely ladies who work there were so helpful, professional, friendly and made our trip. It is such a shame to hear the news.”

Whoosh has been considered a firm favourite across Bracknell with children and parents offering an excellent party location and a safe place for kids to play.

It has caused upset among parents who had a close connection with the soft play business and it’s owners.

Krista Martin added: “So upset and a little angry. My daughter loves it here. It’s part of our community.”

Nicola Jackson added: “Many memories of taking the kids to whoosh, what a shame!”

Many people who remember visiting the play area with their son and daughter, have continued after 20 years with another generation of Bracknell kids.

One grandparent said: “Used to take my son there over 20 years ago!! Now take our 4-year-old Grandson...who loves it! Still looks EXACTLY the same!! Shame...end of an era...

“Still let's hope whatever takes its place is as good.”

Plans for another soft play area have been proposed by Everyone Active who will manage the inhouse revamp.
