(Bracknell Forest) Taylor Wimpey advertises first new homes in major Warfield development: 23/00289/A

Signs have gone up without planning permission advertising the first properties in a 300-home construction project between Harvest Ride and Warfield Street.

Developer Taylor Wimpey was slapped with an enforcement notice by Bracknell Forest Council after erecting the signs.

The signs advertise a 45-home neighbourhood named The Skylarks – the first phase of a project comprising 305 homes, a new primary school and public open space.

The council granted permission to the overall project in October 2021, subject to further detailed plans being approved. The Skylarks’ plans got the go-ahead in December 2021.

But Taylor Wimpey didn’t get permission to erect the advertising signs that are now in place. It has now submitted plans to get them approved in retrospect.

(Bracknell Forest) Changes to Tesco car park: 23/00314/FUL

The canopy covering a walkway at the Tesco superstore car park in Martins Heron could be replaced under plans submitted to Bracknell Forest Council.

The plans also include a 2.4 metre high timber fence for the staff smoking area.

(Wokingham Borough) Gurdwara on Reading Road: 231077

An office building on Reading Road in Winnersh could be converted into a Gurdwara – a Sikh place of worship.

Under the plans, the Gurdwara would occupy the building currently known as Mizuno House, which is next to Halfords. It will be linked to the Reading Gurdwara on Cumberland Road, and will also provide a community centre.

Sikh trustees say they want to expand to a new site to better serve their expanding congregation across Reading and Wokingham.

(Wokingham Borough) Tenant allowed to continue living in a converted barn in Hurst: 230698

Mr Jamie Branson will be allowed to carry on living in a converted barn attached to a house on Orchard Road.

He moved into The Barn at Vine Cottage in 2016. Owners Peter and Katie Meads let it out to him after renovating both buildings since buying them in 2013. But at that time they didn’t get permission for The Barn to be used as a separate dwelling.

They applied for permission retrospectively, with several neighbours – and even their postman – submitting letters in support.

Wokingham Borough Council granted permission on the grounds that the conversion would have been lawful, and that it has been used as a dwelling for four continuous years.
