A JUNIOR boxer from Bracknell is representing England at an international competition after winning gold.
Mohammad (Manny) Safari, who trains at The Ring ABC in Bracknell, is now part of the England Boxing team where he is competing in the Junior European Championships in Romania this week.
Representing England in Romania, the 15-year-old won his first round fight with a “unanimous decision” and continues onto the next round.
Head coach at The Ring ABC, Darren Taylor says the whole club is very proud of him and wish him and rest of the England team much success in the competition.
Manny, who competes in the junior male under 50kg category, made the England Boxing team after seeing great success at previous competitions.
He won gold for England at the GB Three Nations competition this year along with Scotland and Wales.
The young boxer has “brought along his gold medal to the club's junior session, to showcase the reward for hard work and dedication to inspire the young boxers of the club”, Darren Taylor said.
Writing on the England Boxing website, the team said its Senior squad "concluded a week of training in Schwerin, Germany with a 9-2 victory over the host nations in an 11-bout series.
"At the same time, a mixed Junior, Youth and Elite Three Lions squad took on Wales in Cardiff, emerging 7-5 winners after a keenly-contested afternoon of boxing."
