Two local charities have been awarded a cheque, which will help fun end-of-life care and help support those with learning disabilities.
Wokingham Lions Club presented the May Fayre 2023 beneficiaries, Camp Mohawk and Thames Hospice, with a charitable donation in their July Business Meeting.
Each charity was presented with £4,000 from the proceeds of The May Fayre by President, Lyn Baily.
Camp Mohawk is a multi-functional day centre for children with special needs and their families, set just outside Wargrave, Berkshire.
Samantha Rosier, Fundraising Chairman for the charity told Wokingham Lions: “We will use the money to refurbish our Sensory Room, to provide options of both calming and stimulating environments.
"Sensory rooms play a pivotal part in assisting with the development of children with sensory issues."
Thames Hospice provides inpatient and community palliative and end-of-life care services across East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire for people from the age of 16.
Layla Pipe, Senior Community Fundraiser for Thames Hospice said: “On behalf of us all at Thames Hospice, I would like to thank the Wokingham Lions for the £4,000, which could fund six weeks of vital end-of-life care for two patients at home.
"We rely heavily on support from groups such as the Lions to help fund our care, and their continued support and amazing donation are so very much appreciated”.
