A local Bracknell nursery school has bounced back to get a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating after being told to improve.
After a difficult year, Redwood Early Years was rated ‘requires improvement’ by the education watchdog in 2022.
Following the continued support of the Redwood community, the school has now improved in all areas of overall effectiveness during an inspection on June 30.
This includes the quality of education, behaviors, personal development, and leadership and management.
In particular, inspectors praised the children’s love for learning in a nurturing and caring environment, creating an atmosphere of mutual respect.
Inspector, Sonia Panchal said: “Since the last inspection, the manager and staff have worked hard to make effective improvements to children's outcomes. For example, they use additional funding to develop children's social and physical skills successfully.
“The manager organises an external sports company to teach children how to play team games. Children apply many of the skills learned in these sessions, such as showing cooperation and negotiation skills. They take turns to climb, balance, and jump when participating in an obstacle course. This has contributed to children demonstrating good behavior and conduct.”
According to Sarah Gresty, from Redwood Early Years, the nursery have hired an in-house speech and language therapist which will provide relief for many parents and more support for children.
Ms Gresty said: “We at Redwood Early Years have worked extremely hard to provide the best education and care we can for the children of Emmbrook and beyond. We have introduced our own bespoke curriculum which includes exposing the children to BSL with even our two-year-olds now able to sign over 200 words.
“We would really like to thank not only the Redwood community but the whole of Emmbrook who have stood by us and supported us through what has been a challenging year.
“We look forward to welcoming our families back in September and celebrating this well-deserved news with them along with welcoming new staff members and introducing our in house speech and language therapist who will be joining the Redwood team at the beginning of the new term."
