A Restaurant in Sandhurst, Bracknell Forest, has recently received the second lowest possible hygiene rating following an inspection.
Raj Tandoori, located at 366 Yorktown Road, Sandhurst, received a low 1 in a recent hygiene inspection, signifying major improvements are required.
The inspection carried out on August 22, 2023, evaluated the restaurant's overall hygiene standards and food practices.
While the food handling, including preparation, cooking, reheating, cooling, and storage, was deemed "generally satisfactory," other areas needed attention.
The restaurant's building condition and cleanliness, covering aspects like layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities, and pest control were appreciated, scoring a "good" rating.
However, it was the food safety officer’s confidence in Raj Tandoori that drastically brought down their overall score.
The checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat weren't convincing enough and staff knowledge about food safety was found wanting.
Such a low hygiene score places the dining spot in the bottom 0.6% of establishments within the Bracknell Forest area based on hygiene ratings.
It contrasts sharply with the 70.6% establishments that flaunt a top-notch hygiene rating of 5.
It is clear that Raj Tandoori has significant scope for improvement to align with local standards.
