The Mayor of Bracknell and her consort were spotted attending a church service to usher in the new judicial year.
Each year, judges return from recess in the summer with a ceremony to mark the reopening of the courts.
Councillor Naheed Ejaz (Labour, Great Hollands) attended the service at Reading Minster Church in St Mary’s Butts on Friday, October 13.
The Mayors of the councils of Berkshire were present at the ceremony, with cllr Ejaz and her son Diwan Khan, the mayor’s consort, closely following cllr Tony Page (Labour, Abbey) the Mayor of Reading.
Cllr Ejaz became the mayor of Bracknell Forest Council at a full council meeting on Wednesday, May 24.
She became a councillor after being elected in the full council election earlier in May.
The Judicial Service was held by High Sheriff of Berkshire Simon Muir and James Puxley, the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, who led the civic procession to the church.
There was also a procession of the judges of Reading Crown Court.
Cllr Ejaz also recently attended South East Reserve Forces Cadet Association (SERFCA) Royal County of Berkshire Lord Lieutenant Awards at The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst at the end of September.
