A major town centre car park is set to close permanently tonight.
High Street car park, located in Bracknell Town Centre was earmarked for closure earlier this year by Bracknell Forest Council due to safety concerns.
In July councillors agreed that the car park should be closed and eventually demolished as the concrete used in its construction was corroding.
Structural engineers advised the council that High Street Car Park could remain in place safely until 2025.
However, the council’s executive committee agreed that it should close on Tuesday, October 31, so that decommissioning work could take place.
Bracknell Forest Council is now reminding members of the public to remove their vehicle from the car park by 9pm tonight (October 31) ahead of its permanent closure.
Kevin Gibbs, executive director for delivery at Bracknell Forest Council, said that people who currently use the Shopmobility service via High Street car park should use Princess Square from Wednesday, November 1 instead.
High Street car park was built in the 1970s and has already had its middle parking bays closed to the public to spread the weight load.
