A PAEDOPHILE has been convicted of eleven sexual offences relating to young children.

Michael Thompson pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children, six counts of distributing indecent photographs of children, one count of possessing an indecent image of a child and one count of engaging in sexual communication with child.

The 29-year-old pleaded guilty at Reading Magistrates Court on August 23 and was due to be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday (November 10).

However, an application was made for the sentencing to be delayed for a psychiatric report to be obtained.

This is due to the defendant’s mental health and the ‘effect that has on his interactions with others’, which was highlighted to the court within the pre-sentence report.

Thompson’s defence lawyer said the defendant had ADHD and possible autism and has ‘suffered significant trauma in his childhood’.

Judge Mark Turner agreed to adjourn the case, telling the court: “The defendant ought to be assessed properly.

“So I’m minded to adjourn the sentence for that to be done.”
