A Berkshire town has been ranked the fourth happiest place to live in the UK this year.
Rightmove’s 12th annual ‘Happy at Home Index’ asked more than 26,000 people across Britain about various aspects of where they live including transport links, sense of community and greenspaces.
In the study, Wokingham finished fourth place, below Richmond upon Thames, Winchester, and Monmorth.
In the South East region, the Berkshire town has been ranked second, with Winchester placed number one.
Cllr Stephen Conway, leader of Wokingham Borough Council, said: “I am not at all surprised that Wokingham has been identified as one of the happiest places to live in the UK.
“It’s a great place to live and work, with good schools, access to beautiful countryside, good transport links to London and the rest of the country, and contains so many attractive towns and villages.”
Rightmove’s property expert, Tim Bannister said: “Searching for new areas outside of the city that are still commutable on office days and looking for cheaper properties that are in need of renovation are just some of the actions we’ve seen determined movers take this year.
“With the results of this year’s study highlighting that residents continue to value living near green spaces and natural beauty, estate agents who are not already doing so should consider making sure that they clearly highlight nearby green spots to appeal to potential buyers.”
