As previous reported, a beloved 300 year old oak tree was partially cut down in Wokingham last week, sparking a huge response from local residents.
The tree was deemed a health and safety issue by Wokingham Borough Council since a large branch snapped off in high winds.
Since then new photos have been released of the newly felled tree.
In the pictures the large tree can be seen with all its branches now pollard. It now only has its trunk and stumps of the previous branches left.
Ian Rodwell posted these pictures on social media and many took to the comment section to express their views on the newly felled tree.
One user commented “Bloody hell what a mess” with a further user responding “How is that a mess? A very professional, essential job.
“Would you rather it came down in a storm doing some terrible damage?”
Many other commenters expressed either admiration or disdain for what has now happened to the centuries-old tree.
Another user said “Yes it now looks so ugly, it was no more likely to come down in a storm than any other tree!”
A further commenter added “I think they did a great job.”
