After two years of business, Snaxtons at the Royal Oak pub in Bracknell has announced its closure.
In a recent post to social media, the eatery released a statement expressing their sadness at having to shut up shop.
“I have always said I'd give it two years,” the post read. “And hopefully the business would grow and then possibly expand.
“It's now evident that with the costs of operating and the constant price increase of food etc things have got to a stage where it's too difficult to carry on.
“So unfortunately, we have decided to close the doors to Snaxtons and to my dream which breaks my heart! I am devastated and disappointed that I couldn't take us to where I envisaged.”
Snaxton’s is an independent family-run business founded by Steve Axton. They cook exciting street-style food with the aim to keep customers ‘coming back for more and feeding that crave.’
Mr Axton continued in his Facebook post: “I am truly grateful to those who have been with us on this journey and to those who have eaten with us plus supported us along the way!
“We also thank you for all the lovely reviews! The feedback has kept us going! I'm going to miss it deeply. We have definitely made some lovely new friends along the way.”
Mr Axton also thanked a number of family members who have helped him along the way. He gave thanks to his sister Lindsay and employee Harley.
He also gave recognition to his fiancée Lisa who made it all happen behind the scenes with countless hours of paperwork as well as cooking cleaning and organising.
Mr Axton said: “I'd also like to thank the Healy Group for taking a chance on us and thanks to all the staff at the Royal Oak for their help with orders.
“I'm gutted to not be able to feed the crave any longer!”
Both Lisa Clark and Mr Axton live locally to Bracknell. Ms Clark expressed how this has been a big decision for her fiancée, and that they are both very sad to let the business go.
“He made it up from scratch,” she said. “But the cost of living crisis has just made it so hard being a small independent business.
“We want to walk away with our heads held high. We know a lot of our customers are in the same position as us, times are very hard at the moment.
