Many people in Bracknell have expressed their sadness after Snaxtons at the Royal Oak pub in Bracknell announced its closure last week.
In a recent post to social media, the eatery released a statement expressing their sadness at having to shut up shop.
“I have always said I'd give it two years,” the post read. “And hopefully the business would grow and then possibly expand.
“It's now evident that with the costs of operating and the constant price increase of food etc things have got to a stage where it's too difficult to carry on.
“So unfortunately, we have decided to close the doors to Snaxtons and to my dream which breaks my heart! I am devastated and disappointed that I couldn't take us to where I envisaged.”
Snaxtons is an independent family-run business founded by Steve Axton. They cook exciting street-style food with the aim to keep customers ‘coming back for more and feeding that crave.’
After news of the food stop’s closure broke on Facebook, many people took to the comments to express their sadness.
One user wrote “Gutted, so good! Highly recommend people go and try it before it’s gone.”
In agreement with the previous comment, another person wrote “Probably the best food you will get in an estate pub, such a shame.”
A further person wrote “Get down there before they close. Best burgers ever!”
Both Lisa Clark and Mr Axton live locally to Bracknell. Ms Clark expressed how this has been a big decision for her fiancée, and that they are both very sad to let the business go.
“He made it up from scratch,” she said. “But the cost of living crisis has just made it so hard being a small independent business.
“We want to walk away with our heads held high. We know a lot of our customers are in the same position as us, times are very hard at the moment.”
Despite the restaurant receiving numerous comments from people who had eaten there, a number of people expressed that they had never even heard of Snaxtons.
One person wrote “I didn't know either, poor social media sadly” with another user writing “I didn’t even know the Royal Oak did food?”
In defence of Snaxtons, a further user said “Don’t see how people can say they didn’t know, there’s a huge sign outside and it’s all over social media!
“Obviously they don’t go near that pub!”
