Yankee Candle in Bracknell town centre recently announced its closure and held a major closing-down sale.
Huge red sale posters were seen adorning the display windows with ‘end of lease,’ ‘closing down sale,’ and ‘50% off all stock’ printed over them.
Since news of the store's closure broke out on social media, over a hundred people have been expressing their views.
The shop was originally only meant to be a pop-up over Christmas, but decisions were underway to decide whether it could become permanent or not.
In the comment section of the original article, one user wrote "The lady working in there said that depending on how much profit they made over Christmas would decide whether they became permanent.
"It’s a shame but I’m not surprised."
In agreement with the previous comment, another user wrote "Jesus town will be empty soon such a shame for all the staff in the shops that are closing as well."
A further person said "I guess the demand for candles has melted away."
The Yankee Candle Company is an American retailer of scented candles, candleholders, and accessories.
The store saw huge popularity in the early 2010s, but news of this store’s closure has got the public wondering if their reign as top candle seller may be dwindling.
