A mysterious high-pitched noise has been plaguing residents throughout the day and night and everyone is flummoxed about where it is coming from.
The noise was flagged by local councillor, Helen Purnell, on a Bracknell community Facebook group after being heard in the area near South Hill Park.
The question has prompted many residents from across Bracknell to come forward about the ‘whistling’ or ‘humming’ that is in some cases 'driving them mad.
People came forward from Great Hollands, Harmans Water and even as far as Sandhurst to remark on the humming that had often plagued their night time musings.
One person suggested that they had ‘always assumed it was a 5G mast’ that was causing the humming sound.
Another neighbour noted that as a resident of the Royal Winchester House near the town centre they often hear a ‘high-pitched whistling noise’ when it is windy.
This phenomenon has been mentioned several times across Bracknell Forest with no definite outcome as to what may be causing it.
Last year, the Guardian reported on a person called Philip Jaekl who said they could hear The Hum.
They quote: "Up to 4% of people around the world are thought to hear the strange, low-pitched noise. Its actual source is unknown, though many hearers are in urban areas, suggesting it could be some form of noise pollution."
Have you heard of the strange humming noise in Bracknell?
