Two new Asda supermarkets are set to open their doors in Berkshire this month.
The supermarket chain has confirmed multiple branches of its Asda Express stores will open in both Reading and Bracknell as part of an expansion across the country.
It comes after a multi-million-pound investment into acquiring stores from Co-op and the EG Group.
The Reading branch opened at the beginning of this month on Tuesday, September 6 at the ESSO petrol station on Berkeley Avenue.
This was previously a SPAR which has now been replaced with the Asda Express ‘On the Move’ store.
The postcode for this new store is RG1 6JT.
The second Asda Express will take over the convenience store at the ESSO petrol station on Downshire Way in Bracknell.
This will open at the end of the month on Tuesday, February 29. The postcode for this new Asda Express is RG12 1QN.
A total of 110 new Asda Express shops will be unveiled in February.
Andy Perry, Asda’s Vice President of Convenience, said: “Asda’s significant investment in building a nationwide chain of convenience stores is a key component of our long-term strategy to become the number two player in UK grocery. February is a transformational month for programme with a record number of store openings and conversion of all former Co-op sites to Asda Express sites. The teams have worked at pace to reach this point and we look forward to bringing Asda’s quality and low prices to many more communities across the UK.”
