A police officer has been commended by members of the public after writing a comical post on social media.

The officer in question wrote on Facebook how PC Wildridge and PC Murphy from the Bracknell NPT confiscated a large amount of cannabis from some local young people.

They used the motif of the Postcode Lottery to explain the events that unfolded, entitling the post 'The Alternative Postcode Lottery.'

They wrote "Unfortunately it's not the Postcode Lottery Team knocking in their red fleeces at your door...it will be the equally famous PC Wildridge and PC Murphy from the Bracknell NPT.

"If you're lucky enough to receive this special knock, answer and say, in your most excited voice - 'Make me a millionaire!'

"You will be in with a chance of an exclusive conversation with us, explaining that your young boy was found in a garage block in Great Hollands, Bracknell last night, amongst other friends, drinking Jamaican Tonic Wine (...I'm yet to try it!) and smoking cannabis (...I won't be trying it!)."

The officer went on to say how both PCs confiscated this cannabis from the 'cheeky chappies' and that they would be dealt with appropriately.

Many took to the comment section of the post to congratulate the author on their hilarity.

One person said "Not sure if this is one person who writes these or a group - either way they need a pay rise! These posts are great."

In agreement with the previous comment, another person wrote "Murphy and co we’re actually actively patrolling the area for our safety and came across this sort of thing and nipped it in the bud!

"A a light-hearted post like this proves they’re human, approachable and trying to reduce crime albeit petty, it could however become a bigger issue when said juveniles get older!"

The officer in question finished the Facebook post off with a number of equally hilarious disclaimers.

They wrote the following:

"Disclaimer:

• No, you cannot 'Like' & 'Share' this post to win the cannabis.

• No, we won't be smoking it at the next police party it gets destroyed!

• No, you will not actually win any money if you answer the door and state 'Make me a Millionaire', but it will make me laugh...so try it

• No, we are not affiliated with the Postcode Lottery...obviously!

• Don't lie...you definitely sang the Advert Jingle whilst reading this post."
