A horse has sadly passed away after sustaining injuries in a fall in the Berkshire countryside.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Animal Rescue Unit were called to a field on Betty Grove Lane, Sindlesham at 10:18am on March 12.
The animal was unable to get up from the ground after falling.
Crews from Wokingham Road and Wokingham fire stations and Animal Rescue from Caversham Road were on the scene for four hours.
The Heavy Rescue Unit from Theale Community Fire Station was also sent to Wokingham to aid in the rescue.
The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews found a horse that was unable to get up in a field. Firefighters attempted to lift the horse into an upright position using the Heavy Rescue Unit and into the care of a vet.
“Sadly, the horse could not be saved and was put to sleep as a result of injuries sustained.”
