Two Ascot fashionistas have opened their first clothing shop in Ascot after a venture selling pre-loved clothes on Vinted exploded.
In Style Ascot opened on March 31 by owners Niamh Cadden and Izzy Lane, buying and selling pre-loved high street and designer pieces to shoppers across Berkshire.
This comes less than two years after their online venture took off overnight on social media.
Izzy said: “I’ve always had a love for second-hand and pre-loved clothes ever since my grandma started to introduce me to charity shops at the age of 11.
“In September 2022 when I was selling some of my clothes on Vinted, a friend reached out to ask if I could do the same for her and so I put a message out on a community Facebook page, 'Ascot People'. Overnight I had received 250 messages from people in Ascot that said they would be interested in giving me their pre-loved clothes to sell.
“It just exploded from there and we’ve managed to build the business despite having full time jobs ourselves.
“After the success we have had by simply advertising on social media, we decided to expand and found the perfect venue in South Ascot which we fell in love with.”
The shop allows people to do a complete wardrobe overhaul without having to lift a finger. After booking an appointment with the store, sellers simply have to visit the ladies where they will take the pre-owned clothes and present them for sale both online and in-store.
Izzy explains that after one month a sum of money will appear in your bank account from the sold clothing. After selling the pre-loved the price is split 50/50 between the seller and the business.
She added: “People are absolutely loving it because we ensure that there is the highest level of security on the items and we really care about the products that we buy and sell.
“We sell everything from Zara and Mint Velvet to Loewe and Louis Vuitton. We like to stay away from fast fashion and only ask for high-value garments to stay more sustainable.”
The shop hopes to hold a variety of events over the coming months including a Prom event for girls seeking prom dresses and a Royal Ascot shopping event to find that perfect dress for the races.
