The former premises of an infamous psychiatric hospital has been listed for sale in the heart of the Berkshire countryside.
Broadmoor Hospital, located in Crowthorne, was made famous for housing some of the UK’s most dangerous criminals suffering from psychiatric disorders.
Following the construction of a new Broadmoor hospital within the same grounds, the historic property is now on the market for anyone who wishes to own a little touch of history.
According to the property agent, Jo Kelly, the former Broadmoor Hospital is allocated for residential-led redevelopment prioritising space for new homes and residential properties.
Within the site, there is 150,000 sq. ft of Grade II Listed and curtilage listed buidings due to the historical nature of the site and prominence of the buildings.
The peaceful location gives almost 360 degrees of views over the English countryside. This includes 60 acres of land.
The former Broadmoor Hospital site was listed on October 31, 2023 on behalf of West London NHS Trust and is currently on sale as a Freehold.
It is located in the M3/M4 corrider 34 miles west of Central London; 15 miles southeast of Reading.
After deciding to redevelop a brand-new hospital on the same land as the former site, the West London NHS Trust planned for the first-phase of the £250 million rebuild to open to staff and patients on December 16, 2019.
Following the opening, phase two began to re-design the landscaping around the new building. Most of this includes the New hospital site, however according to the West London NHS Trust a small section of the old buildings has also been used.
