A new soft play area in Bracknell has opened its doors to excited families this month.

Play World, which is located in Bracknell Leisure Centre, was officially opened on Friday, May 3 by Cllr Jenny Penfold and executive member for culture, delivery, and public protection, Cllr Iskandar Jefferies.

Families involved in the Alexander Devine Children's Charity were also invited to enjoy the facilities and to help cut the ribbon on the day.

This came before it was opened to the public on Sunday, May 5 when kids flooded the new state-of-the-art venue.

As well as the soft play, Play World also includes a baby and toddler zone, a junior area with interactive games, a mini football pitch and a cafe.

Play World is part of the £1.9 Million improvement project managed by Everyone Active and Bracknell Forest Council at the leisure centre.

Cllr Iskandar Jefferies, said: “We were so pleased to see so many happy faces during the opening weekend of Play World – and long may it continue.

“This facility not only caters to the physical wellbeing of children across Bracknell Forest but also gives families a chance to connect, meet new people and make memories together.”

Mark Tennant, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to open Play World at Bracknell Leisure Centre. The first weekend was spectacular and it was incredible to see so many children enjoying the facility.

“To open the first slot on Friday to children receiving treatment for cancer, along with their parents, was incredible and it was so touching to see everyone enjoying themselves.

“We recognise that soft play areas are typically off-limits and many families hadn’t visited one in years. We are committed to maintaining stringent cleaning protocols and eagerly anticipate welcoming these families back soon.”

Parent, Kathryn Frimond, came along with her six-year-old son. She said: “Massive thank you to Everyone Active in Bracknell for opening up their soft play a day early for local kids recovering from leukemia.

“We haven’t been to a soft play since 2019 due to the risk. For our family and the others there it was a massive thing.”
