An illegal encampment has been moved from a Sandhurst memorial park by police after an eviction notice was granted by police.

The intruders took over Pyres Acre Field and Car Park in Sandhurst Memorial Park this week without permission from the council and local authorities.

After Thames Valley Police were made aware of this, the visitors were served an eviction notice for 5pm on Wednesday, May 15 and police granted a Section 60c order.

Inspector Watkinson, PS Greehy and officers from ICR and PC Murphy from NPT attended the encampment to serve the paperwork.

At 4:30 pm on Wednesday, police announced that they had moved on before their 5 pm eviction deadline.

The section 60c order that was granted requires police to access the impact of the encampment, including whether significant damage, distruption or distress has been caused or whether it is likely to be caused.

This was due to the impact that this illegal encampment would have had on Sandhurst Football Club and their upcoming tournament this weekend.

With the help from a ‘working group’ at the club alongside ground staff at the council, the pitches were readied for the tournament.
