Two new shops are rumoured to take up residence within Princess Square this year.
Following news that Tesco Express will be taking over the proposed Wimpy space beside Starbucks, retail workers within the Lexicon told the News that two more ‘huge retailers’ will replace empty units inside Princess Square.
One of these stores is suspected to be located in the unit that housed Argos before its closure during Covid. This has stood empty since its closure despite surrounding units filling up with new and exciting stores.
An employee within the complex said: “The news came from one of the managers who told us after a meeting with all the heads.
“We are excited that more popular shops are coming to Princess Square because it will draw more shoppers into the town. We have seen the footfall decrease since they shut one of the entrances.”
Rob Morris, general manager at The Lexicon, said: “We can confirm that we are in talks with Tesco regarding a new Tesco Express store at The Lexicon. We are also in discussions with a number of other retailers and will share further updates as soon as we can.”
