A bank card fraudster has received a suspended prison sentence.

Maria Kastrouni, 42, of South Lake Crescent, Woodley, took a purse in Wargrave on June 29 last year.

She then tried to use cards from the purse to purchase £211 of groceries.

Kastrouni pleaded guilty to charges of theft by finding and fraud by false representation at Reading Magistrates' Court on February 15 this year.

Magistrates handed her a suspended sentence for two weeks, suspended for 12 months.

She is expected to complete up to 25 days of rehabilitation activities.

In addition, she has been ordered to pay £211 in compensation.
