Each year Wokingham's Mayor nominates a charity to support.
This year Mayor Cllr Rob Comber has chosen to support SHARE Wokingham.
On Friday, May 17, members of Wokingham Council visited Norreys Church to see SHARE open its doors with see the offerings of delicious fresh goods.
A Council spokesperson said: "Claire and all the volunteers are so welcoming to all, and it was so heart-warming to see people enjoying spending time there chatting and connecting with others too, which as we know is so important for us all."
SHARE was founded during Covid, but has seen demand rise.
The charity now operates at many different locations in the town and borough.
Cllr Comber said: "SHARE focuses, as its core service, on obtaining and distributing fresh food, which would otherwise be discarded by food wholesalers and retailers.
"Food banks and the like get donations of tinned food, nappies and so forth. But fresh food, which we recommend people eat more of, can be in short supply for some.
"SHARE provides it to those who need it. They also take the opportunity to talk to people that need its services, to provide social interaction, and to identify other areas of need."
