An Ascot student has been awarded runner-up in this year's Ascot Racecourse Schools Art Competition ahead of the Royal event.
This year saw a record 26 schools from across Berkshire participate to be in with a chance to win a host of prizes.
After 4,000 online votes were counted, Fabian, a year seven student from Charters School in Ascot won the runner-up prize in the Under 12 category.
The winners, runners up and highly commended artists attended the prize giving where they brushed shoulders with judges and other students.
Fabian recounted: "The day of this exciting event I wake up feeling unbelievable. Never in a million years did I ever think one of my drawings would be selected for anything.
“None the less, the whole experience of sharing the unique day with family and friends could not have happened at a better time.
“It was great to see the other selectees who also had amazing talent. I felt like a little celebrity brushing shoulders and shaking hands with the judges. I'd say the compliments got to my head!
“I will continue to work on my art and hopefully one day it will take me places."
Winners and runner-ups have been invited to attend our Victoria Cup Raceday on May 11, 2024 for a celebratory presentation tea.
