Pedestrians and dogwalkers across Bracknell Forest have been advised that a footpath at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club will be closed to protect public safety.
On May 29, Bracknell Forest Council made an order under section 119A of the Highways Act 1980.
This outlined that starting from Friday, June 28, the stretch of pathway at the polo club would be closed for up to six months (or until the completion of the works).
A diversion is set to be put in place to avoid crossing polo pitches, thus making sure public safety is put first.
Bracknell Forest Council said: “The diversion is confirmed as it appears to the authority that it is expedient in the interests of the safety and practicality of members of the public using or likely to use the said footpaths.”
For the next six months, footpath 19 will now be made up of parts of footpath 13 and footpath 19.
The 140 metres of Winkfield footpath at the polo club will be temporarily prohibited.
The order said: “The purpose of this order is to ensure public safety while the landowners reinstate the land following introduction of alternative land use affecting this section of the public footpath.
“The temporary closure order is to allow site developers to safely complete site works including movement of earthworks.”
