The UK's biggest new film and television studio, Shinfield Studios, is now fully operational, having completed its construction.

The studio boasts 18 soundstages, including two of the largest in the country, each measuring a massive 43,000 sq ft.

Situated to the east of Reading, Shinfield Studios' convenient location provides ease of access to the M4 and Crossrail.

The studio has already welcomed several high-budget productions including Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire since its phased opening over the last two years.

Nick Smith, Joint Managing Director, Shinfield Studios, celebrated the studio’s launch, saying: "Shinfield Studios is complete.

"We have built from the ground-up one of the world’s most state-of-the-art studio facilities – designed to attract the most ambitious and high budget productions.

"We've already welcomed to Berkshire some truly impressive feature films and high-end television series and, with Shinfield Studios now fully operational, there will be many more to come."

The modern site is far from just soundstages.

It encompasses 38 workshops, a significant amount of office space - both spacious and up-to-date - and a nine-acre filming backlot.

All stages and office floors are equipped with accessible facilities.

The studio also prioritises sustainability, having incorporated air source heat pumps, electric vehicle charging points, and solar panels across the grounds.

Ian Johnson, Joint Managing Director, Shinfield Studios, added: "Our vision was to build a studio which fulfilled every need of today's productions, including supporting industry efforts to improve sustainability and facilitate accessibility for all.

"It is fantastic to have brought that vision to reality and we are enormously grateful for the support from Wokingham Borough Council, The University of Reading and the local community."

Johnson went on to discuss the studio’s commitment to nurturing new talent in the industry: "It was also important to all of us at Shinfield Studios to contribute to developing the next generation of production talent.

"We're proud to be founding members of Screen Berkshire whose aim is to connect local crew with jobs, through training, upskilling and supporting new entrants to the workforce."

Shinfield Studios, which spans a total of 1 million sq ft, is owned by US-based Shadowbox Studios.

The company already owns and operates similar soundstage facilities across the United States, including an 850,000 sq ft studio complex in Atlanta.

Plans are also underway for an expansive soundstage campus in the Los Angeles area.
