Following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct a police officer has been convicted for pursuing an improper relationship with a female suspect.
PC Matthew Lynch, aged 36, who was based at Slough police station was yesterday June 27 convicted, after he pleaded guilty to one count of misconduct in a public office.
The guilty plea was entered following a hearing at Nightingale Court, in the Barbican, yesterday June 27.
The charges relate to PC Lynch pursuing an improper relationship with a female suspect that he had been investigating.
PC Lynch will be sentenced at St Albans Crown Court in September.
Thames Valley Police Assistant Chief Constable Dennis Murray, said: “The officer in this case has been convicted of a serious offence.
“Following the reports around this case, the Force made a mandatory referral to the IOPC, who took on the investigation independently.
“The officer was suspended from duty which was absolutely right in the circumstances.
“Misconduct proceedings could not be progressed while the criminal case was ongoing, however now that PC Lynch has been convicted, this will take place in due course.”
