Hawkedon Primary School in Lower Earley ran their annual sports week, where children from the 630 pupil school got to take part in various Olympic themed sports workshops across the week, which included; Fencing, Hockey, Table Tennis, Football with Reading Community Trust and Cycling with My Journey Wokingham.

As well as the workshops, Hawkedon also ran their sports day on Wednesday June 19. It was a gloriously sunny day enjoyed by all of the pupils, staff and parents, with Blue Ospreys House taking the overall win, lifting the Sports Day Cup.

The sports day was attended by Mike Smith, Earley Town’s Mayor who said "I thought the organisation was brilliant and the children's sense of fun, fair play and enthusiasm was just magnificent."

Nikki Gladwin-Stride, who organises the Sports Week added  "There is a great sense of pride and passion when it comes to Sport at our school,  Sports Week is a time the pupils look forward to across the year."

Alfie.F, year 6 said "Sports week is the most fun week in the school by far! I was lucky to be in the winning house this year for sports day got to hold up the winning trophy with the Mayor. I’m sad that it’s the last sports week for me as I’m in year 6 as Hawkedon make such an effort with setting up the different activities across the week."

Tilly, Year 4  said "Sports day was so much fun, I loved it!"
