Another Wokingham bank made the decision to closed its doors for the final time this month after decades of service to the local community.

Lloyds Bank, at Market Place in Wokingham served its last customer on Monday, July 8.

The Berkshire bank is only one of 60 new branch closures for the remainder of the year and 2025.

According to a report created by Lloyd’s, they found that the average counter transactions in the Wokingham branch have reduced by 44 per cent between 2018 and 2023.

The report, which outlined the banks performance said: “Before we close any branch, we look at how our customers are managing their money and using the branch.

"Most customers are now using our mobile app, internet banking or calling us instead, which means they are using branches, including the Wokingham branch much less."

Lloyds Banking Group, which includes Halifax and Bank of Scotland, will close 190 branches in 2024 and 47 next year.

The new closures include 28 Lloyds Bank, 17 Halifax and 15 Bank of Scotland sites and will take place between October this year and June 2025.

This closure joined multiple others across Berkshire due to a downturn in customers using their branch.

Following the closure, Bracknell and Wokingham customers can do everyday banking transactions at any Post Office.

The closest Lloyd's branch will be at 10 High Street in Bracknell and 53 Crockhamwell Road in Reading.
