This week's planning round up includes a new building for Dolphin School, an update on the 42-flat development on Latimer Road and a house extension refused in Bracknell.

The decisions have been made by either Bracknell Forest and Wokingham Borough Council and can be viewed on the respective council’s planning website and searching for the application number provided.

An advertising application for the One Stop store on Bracknell high street has been approved.

The shop, which opened in March, would like to alter the current advertisement they have now to an illuminated sign, window vinyls and poster cases.

Given its location on the high street, the application was considered to be appropriate in accordance to other shops in the area.

The private school, based on Waltham Road in Hurst, wants to build a 18,250 square metre one-storey building. It would be situated next to the main school buildings.

A planning application for an extension on a house on Anneforde Place in Bracknell has been refused.

Owners wanted to build a two-storey side extension to the existing end of terrace house and front porch. This would provide a larger living space and an additional bedroom.

The refusal decision was based on parking issues. The house has no vehicular access, and all cars are parked on the street. But in adding a new bedroom, the owners want to have another car parking space, which is already limited on street level. The council said that given ‘surrounding houses already suffer from street parking congestion, extending this property would exacerbate the problem'.

An application to build a balcony at Leander Club in Henley has been approved.

The rowing club wants to build an external terrace area to the clubhouse dining room to ‘capitalise on views of the river’. This will provide viewing space from the club during the Royal Regatta.

Developers say that the proposal will improve the public face of the building and will give it a ‘more stylish appearance’.

Wokingham Borough Council approved the building of the new balcony as well as refurbishments to the west side of the building.

An ongoing proposal to build 42 flats on Latimer Road near Wokingham town centre has been approved.

The plans, which have been negotiated since 2022, include flats with on-site parking, shared amenity spaces and green spaces.

While this was approved by Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee in January, planning permission has only been awarded now because a ‘section 106 agreement’ has been signed. This contains the legal obligation for developers to mitigate the impact of their proposals.

Developers have said they will do a ‘viability review’ when 90 per cent of the new flats have been bought – with their contribution based on that.
