Readers have been voting on what kind of things would make Bracknell a better place to live.

On a recent call out to Facebook, over one hundred and fifty people gave their views on what things could be done to improve the town.

Comments reflected a number of issues. These included better respect of green spaces, ceasing the building of commuter flats, and additional supermarkets.

One person said "Stop building flats on every available bit of land, there will be no green space left soon.

"We need more doctors surgeries and a proper hospital in Bracknell to accommodate all the people moving into these flats. Existing residents cannot get a doctor's appointment now."

In agreement with the previous comment, another person wrote "Supermarket in the town centre. Aldi or Lidl. It was awful to replace Sainsbury's with a Sports Direct.

"That Sainsbury's was ideal for pensioners. On the bus route, near the post office so they could nip in for some bits after getting their pension. Not only that, a lot of them were regulars who were probably on first name basis with the staff.

"It can be a lonely life for an OAP. So I'm sure they looked forward to a little bit of a chat. If not a supermarket in the town centre, at least put a bus stop outside the Morrisons. Let's make life a bit easier for the elderly residents."

A further person said "Schools that ALL children can attend instead of having to either travel out of borough or be in residential schools hundreds of miles from family."

Others chimed in with more suggestions on what things would make Bracknell a better place to live, with steady transport links being one consistent mention.

One person said "Buses. I am disabled and the bus route that used to run to the bottom of my road was taken off. I have a mobility car and there is no free parking in Bracknell. If I go to Windsor or Wokingham guess what free parking! So although I have a disabled bus pass, it's not that helpful."

A second person wrote "Proper social housing, but with more choice. People who are perhaps older, but don't need sheltered housing, deserve more than a tiny flat near main roads. More bungalows or houses with private gardens, and maybe a small 2nd / half bedroom for family and visitors."

A further person said "More money to be put in to Grass roots football. This would give children a focus on life skills along with meeting new friends and keeping them out of trouble.

"Studies say that children with a sporting focus and a purpose in life will listen and behave more in school because they have a structured life style."
