A luxury 72-bed care home opening in Bracknell has been sold to a care company.

It will be located on the site of a former church just over a mile from Bracknell town centre.

The 1.57 acre site will provide a mixture of residential, memory and nursing care. It will be situated around woodlands close to Ringmead, Bracknell.

It was first acquired by Barwood Capital and Perseus Land and Developments in April 2023. Planning permission was then secured from Bracknell Forest Council in April 2024.

This month, it has been sold to Oakland Care, which provides ‘exceptional’ care across the southeast of England.  It has not been disclosed how much the site was sold for.

The care company won the small group category of the residential care provider of the year awards in 2023. Care homes have luxury facilities including a hair and beauty salon, cinema room, bar and bistro and landscaped gardens.

The site in Bracknell will become Oakland Care’s twelfth operational home in the southeast.

Richard Dooley, Director of Development at Oakland Care, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Perseus team in acquiring this site in Bracknell. The planning and design process was managed collaboratively by both parties achieving an excellent outcome.”

He added that the design of the home will be ‘net zero’, enabling the company to reduce its carbon footprints.

Andrew Barlow from Barwood added that it will provide ‘best-in-class accommodation for older people at a time when the market is starved of supply’.
