A multi-millionaire businessman, who had offered £20,000 for his partners passport after it went missing in Ascot, was surprised when it was handed back by a self-less and anonymous do-gooder.
On Tuesday, July 30, Yasmin Reilly announced on behalf of her employer that after having their bag stolen in Waitrose in Sunningdale, the keys and passport were thrown out between Ascot and Junction 16 of M25.
The businessman was awe-struck after his lost passport was anonymously returned, despite a £20,000 reward offer.
On July 30, spokesperson Yasmin Reilly revealed the wealthy individual, whose partner's Cape Verdean passport vanished after their bag was nabbed at the Sunningdale Waitrose, was ecstatic when the document ended up at Ascot's post office after being found on the High Street.
It was believed that it had been tossed aside somewhere between Ascot and M25's Junction 16.
Ms Reilly shared: "We were so happy that some selfless local person handed it in.
"My boss's partner is from Cape Verdean and travels with him so getting a new passport in time for their next flight on Thursday, August 1 would have been impossible.
"He was willing to pay £20,000 because he would have had to cancel his whole trip otherwise."
The magnanimous Ascot local reportedly declined the hefty reward, and even the post office refused a token of gratitude.
Ms Reilly said: "They offered to give the post office something for it because they were so grateful but they wouldn’t take it."
An act of genuine benevolence brightening a gloomy situation.
