A Berkshire golf club will host its first free-to-attend summer fete this week – and families and local businesses are invited to be part of a packed programme of family-friendly fun.
Royal Ascot Golf Club will open its doors as part of its summer social calendar on Saturday with activities including a golf chipping contest and football-based fun with neighbours Royal Ascot FC plus facepainting, games, shopping stalls and competitions.
The club’s summer fete opens at midday on Saturday, August 10, lasting until 3pm.
A selection of local craft makers and food suppliers will be in attendance too with activities starting at midday and lasting through the afternoon.
Stephen Nicholson, general manager at Royal Ascot Golf Club, said: “The role local people and community organisations have played in the growth and success of the club should not be underestimated.
“Fostering this positive local spirit is something we strongly believe in. Our first summer fete will provide an opportunity to celebrate the club’s recent achievements, welcome new faces to our hub and continue our work to be at the heart of the local community.
“We have a great programme of activities and events planned on the day, so we’d encourage anyone who is available to join us for a fun, family friendly, afternoon.”
The fete is being organised following the club’s major investment into its facilities on and off the course.
Half a million pounds has been committed to upgrading each of the club’s 18 holes, while its clubhouse has been regenerated so the club can host private functions, corporate events and members’ events seven days a week.
Stephen confirmed 60 stalls are expected on the day, and last-minute availability for local businesses and hobbyists remain available to book at no charge.
He added: “It’s going to be a bumper day, and we still have limited space for those interested in running a stall to operate at no cost.
“We want to generate a true family-friendly atmosphere which continues to place the club at the heart of our community. At the same time, we’ll look to engage people of all abilities and experiences with golf so they can experience the health and social benefits our sport has to offer.”
Local businesses and hobbyists interested in running their own stall on the day can email enquiries@ragolf.co.uk. The club’s summer fete opens at midday on Saturday, August 10, lasting until 3pm.
