An office building in Wokingham town centre will be converted into three flats after plans were given the green light from the council.

The listed building Gotelee House is located on 6 Market Place, opposite the town hall. The first floor of the building used to be a Halifax Bank branch. There are no plans to have the flats on the first floor.

An application to build a house on the land of Osborne Farm in Bracknell has been refused by the council. It ruled that it was not acceptable as it would be a ‘visually prominent and urbanising form of development’ which would be ‘to the detriment of the character and amenities of the area’.

Designs of the proposal show a modern and large building with large windows. Warfield Parish Council opposed the development, claiming it didn’t align with the ‘rural nature of the area’.

The Forest School will be getting new entrance doors to it’s main building after receiving planning approval from Wokingham Borough Council.

The school, located on Robin Hood Lane in Winnersh, had demolished it’s existing double doors and windows.

The new entrance will provide a more secure reception area segregated from the rest of the school and greater accessibility.

A plan to erect nine houses in Sandhurst has been withdrawn from Bracknell Forest Council.

Developers wanted to build nine houses following the demolition of two existing houses and outbuildings on Westboune Road.

Sandhurst Town Council had recommended refusal for the proposal, saying that it was a ‘cramped development’.

Three previous applications for building on the land had been refused by the council. The new application had amended the layout.

In the decision notice, the council said that there were issues with flooding and the impact it would have on trees. It further ruled that the proposal would not ‘relate positively to the character and beauty of the countryside’.
