Following a police investigation, a man has been jailed for stamping on a woman's head and strangling her.
Philip McLean, aged 44, of York House, Bracknell, was sentenced to seven years in prison today August 8 at Reading Crown Court.
In addition to his custodial sentence, McLean will be on licence for three years, on release.
McLean was found guilty, by a jury, of one count of grievous bodily harm with intent on June 24 following a five-day trial at the same court.
At around 7.40pm on December 17 2023, officers were called to a house in Bracknell following a distressing 999 call from a woman asking for help.
McLean had stamped on her head multiple times and strangled her.
The victim, who is in her forties, was left with life-changing injuries.
She sustained a wound to the left eyebrow, bruising to the lower aspect of her left eye socket, swelling to the left side of her jawbone, a fracture to the right side of her jawbone and extensive facial bruising.
McLean was arrested on the same day and charged the following day.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Laura Bevan said: “I am pleased that McLean has been given a lengthy custodial sentence.
“This was a violent crime which left the victim with life-changing injuries.
“I would like to pay tribute to the victim for her bravery in calling the police and trusting us to bring McLean to justice.
“I hope this conviction shows we are committed to tackling violence against women and girls, and we will support victims and bring offenders before the courts."
