Bracknell Town Council has funded the building of a water pump in Zimbabwe.
The pump, funded through use of AquAid water coolers in the council’s offices, will provide up to 10,000 litres of safe drinking water per day for up to 300 people.
People in the Manicaland Province in the highlands of Zimbabwe have been pictured next to the new water pump, which says ‘a gift from Bracknell Town Council’.
AquAid Water cooler products carry an automatic donation to charity, with more than £21 million donated that has helped bring water to more than 4.1 million people. They work in collaboration with The Africa Trust, Christian Aid and the Water Dispenser and Hydration Association.
The Africa Trust led the installation of the water pump with members of the local community. Locally available materials were used to allow the community to repair the pump more easily if they need to, which will extend the lifespan of the pump.
