Members of a busy Facebook group in Bracknell have voted to ban political discussions on the social media page.
The administrators of the former We Love Bracknell Facebook page has recently had a rebrand having been taken over by new administrators Moody Moose.
The group page has been renamed 'We Love Bracknell Forest' with a tree emoji to join the name change.
Following the takeover, Moody Moose administrators posted on the group to ask members whether they would like to keep or ban politics on the page, and tallied up the votes.
Ed, one of the administrators, said: "One of the things that quickly filled our inbox were people begging for us to ban politics, so we started a vote on whether to do just that.
"At the moment the result is approximately 143 to 92 so if banning politics is indeed our members outcome then we still need to think about whether elected leaders, official candidates, and news pages should still be able to post political updates.
"I certainly do not want to stop pressing local issues from being spoken discussed because these groups are a great virtual town square."
It is not clear what the administrative approach will be to ban political posts, as a final tally has not yet been drawn.
We Love Bracknell Forest boasts 52,395 members. However, its renaming has caused controversy as an older identically named Facebook group exists, which has 4,801 members.
Ed the administrator said that Moody Moose will open a discussion about turning the name back to the original in a post on the group next month.
