Police have released a photograph of a Bracknell man who has been jailed for stamping on a woman's head and strangling her.

Philip McLean, 44, of York House, Bracknell, was sentenced to seven years in prison on Thursday, August 8, at Reading Crown Court.

He was found guilty by a jury of one count of grievous bodily harm with intent following a five-day trial at the same court.

The jury heard how McLean had stamped on the victim's head multiple times and strangled her. The woman, who is in her forties, was left with life-changing injuries.

McLean has been sent to prison for seven years and will be on licence for three years on release.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Laura Bevan said: “I am pleased that McLean has been given a lengthy custodial sentence.

“This was a violent crime which left the victim with life-changing injuries.

“I would like to pay tribute to the victim for her bravery in calling the police and trusting us to bring McLean to justice.

“I hope this conviction shows we are committed to tackling violence against women and girls, and we will support victims and bring offenders before the courts."
