Progress is being made on a massive development for hundreds of flats a stone's throw away from Bracknell train station.

The defunct Bracknell Beeches offices just south of the Reading to London Waterloo railway have been demolished to make way for hundreds of new apartments.

The project involved the demolition of the seven office buildings that made up the site and replacing them with seven apartment blocks.

Streetview imagery from last August shows demolition work taking place at the site.

Outline planning approval for the development was achieved by S2 Estates in 2022, with more detailed plans being approved by Bracknell Forest Council in 2023.

The amount of one and two-bed apartments was reduced from the 420 flats first envisaged to the 349 flats that were given the go-ahead.

The project was sold to Weston Homes in September last year, with the site being valued at £150 million.

Earlier this year, a Weston Homes statement claimed Bracknell Beeches was 'set to launch' this summer.

At the time, Suzanne Aplin, the group sales and marketing director for the housebuilder said: “We are pleased to announce that construction is underway at our exciting new development Bracknell Beeches which is set to launch this summer.

“Its close proximity to Bracknell Station and the town centre and range of onsite lifestyle amenities makes this a great choice for buyers searching for a modern, convenient lifestyle.

“We expect this high-quality development to set a new standard in the area and are delighted to be expanding our portfolio into Bracknell.”

The company claims that future occupants can look forward to contemporary, open-plan living areas at the apartments.

Outside, future occupants are set to benefit from a play area, inviting public open spaces and retailers on the site, with 3,165 sq ft of flexible commercial space being made available for businesses.

Benefits of the area include transport links to Reading and London provided by the South Western Railway, the M4 and A329(M).

People who are interested in the apartments are told to call 01279 873300.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service called the number but it went to voicemail.

No apartments in Bracknell are currently being advertised on the Weston Homes website.

The housebuilder previously completed the Riverside apartment complex located off Berkeley Avenue in Reading.

Meanwhile, S2 Estates secured approval to transform the old Drews the Ironmongers in Reading into 29 apartments in May last year, and is in charge of a plan to replace the headquarters of Thames Valley Police in Castle Street, Reading with flats.
