An annual commemoration of afternoon tea prompted staff at Bluebird Care's Berkshire branches to hand-deliver some very special gifts.
Afternoon Tea Week, which takes place from August 12 to August 18, inspired the staff to bring the simple delights of afternoon tea to those less able to get out and about to enjoy the tradition.
More than 100 boxes of afternoon tea were hand-prepared and delivered, each filled with delicious treats and a personal touch.
The boxes included biscuits, cake, scones with butter and jam, tea, and a thoughtful letter.
Among the happy recipients of the packages was Connie Heales-Newell, a longtime customer of Bluebird Care Reading, Wokingham, Maidenhead, Windsor, and Bracknell.
She was so delighted by the kind gesture that she wrote a letter expressing her gratitude.
Ms Heales-Newell wrote in her letter: "Dear Bluebird, thank you so much for your very kind gift.
"I will so enjoy this.
"It is such a kind thought and I thank you so much.
"You and your girls are so special to me."
Ruvarashe Chitsinde, care assistant at Bluebird Care Reading, Wokingham, Maidenhead, Windsor, and Bracknell, said: "We wanted to do something meaningful to celebrate and connect with our customers during Afternoon Tea Week.
"Many of our customers live alone or have limited social interaction, so a thoughtful gesture like this can really brighten their day.
"Seeing the smiles on their faces as we delivered the packages made all the hard work worthwhile.
"Our customers were full of surprise and that made the experience incredibly rewarding for the entire team."
Bluebird Care Reading, Wokingham, Maidenhead, Windsor, and Bracknell is part of the national Bluebird Care franchise network.
